L’Ecole N° 41 is a third-generation family-owned, artisan winery located in the historic Frenchtown School depicted on the label. Founded in 1983, they were the third winery established in the Walla Walla Valley. The focus is to produce ultra-premium, distinctive wines that reflect the unmistakable typicity of Washington State and the unique terroir of our Walla Walla Valley vineyards. The family is engaged in growing and making 100% of their wine. Each bottle is handcrafted with a commitment to quality in the vineyards and the winery.
Please do not discount the Merlot, which is the main red this month, the no 41 Merlot is amazing. There is no question Washington Merlots are distinctive from those found elsewhere in the world. The wines not only bring a sense of precision as well as opulence of fruit, they also bring a finer sense of acid and tannin structure than most other regions. In Washington, Merlot is a big, bold red that pairs well with such cuisine as grilled and braised meats, Italian dishes such as lasagna and hearty stews.
