Biale Vineyards

Perfecting the old California classics, Robert Biale Vineyards has become a revered standard of heritage vineyard Zinfandel in the Napa Valley. It all started in the 1940s when 14-year-old Aldo Biale helped his mother make ends meet after his father passed away, by selling to insider Napans–along with eggs and produce–some of the family’s homemade Zinfandel. Over the old “party line” phone system, the code words “a Black Chicken” signified a jug of bootleg wine…and kept nosy neighbors and the authorities from finding out about Aldo’s underground Zinfandel operation!

Biale makes a lot of Zinfandels that all smell and taste very different.  I can honestly say, I liked ALL of them, all for different reasons.  These wines are not your typical fruit forward wines. They are complex, have great fruit flavors without being jammy and have the spice that I enjoy in a Zinfandel.  My Favorite was Aldo's Zinfandel, of course it was the most expensive and they do not distribute it.  But we are in luck, they do distribute a few of their wines to Nebraska. We carry The Black Chicken and the Party Line in the store, these two wines are both "staples" and you will always see them on the shelf. The Party Line is just $30 for !wine club members that the Black Chicken is just under $50.  If you are looking for a great bottle of wine, whether it be for yourself to enjoy or a gift, Biale Zinfandel is always a great choice.  Cheers!
