Our Signature Selection Petite Sirah is grown right in our backyard in Paso Robles. The hot, dry and hilly terrain is perfect for this thick-skinned varietal, and the cool evening temperatures
preserve the acid in the fruit, resulting in an intensely flavorful but still balanced wine.
The vineyard where these grapes were grown is now called Metz Vineyard, (formerly Plummer Vineyard,) and is located in the Estrella District of Paso Robles, just north of us at Bianchi. The
Petite Sirah grown on this estate has power, silky tannins and a beautiful elegance. All of the vines here are planted on gentle to moderate slopes in a unique row orientation, (WSW to ENE,)
reducing fruit exposure to direct sunlight which mitigates any potential sunburn.
Tasting Notes
This Petite Sirah opens with inviting aromas of cocoa and mocha, complemented by vibrant notes of boysenberry, blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, rich flavors of plums dominate, accented by hints of smoky, dark-berried fruits. This wine showcases a full-bodied structure with well-integrated tannins, leading to a long, satisfying finish that lingers with a touch of spice.
Pairings
Ideal for pairing with hearty dishes such as grilled meats or rich stews, or simply
enjoyed on its own, it exemplifies the bold yet balanced characteristics typical of Petite Sirah from Paso Robles. Salute!
