March 2021 Wine Club: Wines from Remhoogte Estate in South Africa
03/04/2021
This month we are highlighting Remhoogte wine from South Africa!  The Chronicle and Soaring Eagle Red Blend and First Light Chenin Blanc.

Remhoogte is a Family Run Winery on the Foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain, Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Notes for Chronicle Red Blend:

TASTING NOTES: Black current, ripe strawberries, red cherries, anise, thyme, cedar and tomato leaf. Juicy fruit on the entry with broad, polished tannins and a bright acidity that brings freshness and length.

Notes for Soaring Eagle:

Aromas of red cherries, black current, and white pepper. Berries, cherries and fresh vanilla on entry. Elegant, balanced mouthfeel with a savory finish, lengthened by light chalky tannins

Recipe to Pair with this wine: Jerk Spiced Tilapia:

The Jerk Spiced Tilapia could be used with either red blend from this month. The spice is a mild jerk seasoning and can be used on any type of fish or chicken. To make it Vegan you can use tofu for the "meat". I served this dish with crab stuffed mushrooms and asparagus, it was so good!

Notes for Chenin Blanc:

TASTING NOTES: Oranges, lemons and passion fruit. Floral violets and honeysuckle. Bright juicy citrus fruit with a limey acid bringing freshness. A mild salinity on the finish gives great length.

Recipe to Pair with this wine: Creamy Carrot Tart

The Creamy Carrot Tart was absolutely amazing and super pretty with the colored carrots. It was sweet, creamy, nutritious and delish! This dish can be used as an appetizer or side dish will be great for Easter and spring and summer get togethers.
